As parents with two sons in Anacortes schools and a third soon to join them, we believe strong schools are the foundation of a thriving community. That’s why we support renewing the upcoming school levies—not creating new taxes, but continuing the investment that keeps our schools exceptional.

State funding only covers the basics. Local levies fill the gap for smaller class sizes, mental health support, arts, athletics, Advanced Placement, Career & Technical Education, and technology upgrades. We’ve already faced painful cuts in recent years, and without this renewal, those cuts would go even deeper—impacting teachers, programs, and opportunities our kids deserve.

The combined levy rate is about $1.46 per $1,000 of assessed value—roughly $83 per month for the median home, just $22 more per month than today’s rate. For that, we maintain what we have: safe and successful schools, strong programs, and opportunities that prepare students for the future—not just for Anacortes, but to contribute meaningfully to the world beyond.

Strong schools strengthen families, neighborhoods, and property values. Please join us in voting YES to keep our schools strong and ensure a bright future for our kids and our community.
